Keep it smart and simple

Not the worst approach when you’re planning a hotel. After all, life is complicated enough. At Mittermeiers Alter Ego we’ve simply simplified things.

The concept of new simplicity

In times of growing complexity and ever-increasing possibilities, clarity and simplicity have become the real luxury.

But can this also be applied to a high-end hotel? That’s exactly the question we asked ourselves when we were developing the concept for Mittermeiers Alter Ego. After all, we wanted to go down a new road instead of just copying something we had already done before.

The result of these deliberations and discussions with friends and experts is a hotel which dispenses with all the stuff that modern travellers don’t really need. At the same time we’ve improved and simplified all the really useful things wherever possible.

Let’s begin at the beginning …

Reception? Who needs it? And anyway, it somehow isn’t appropriate for an innovative hybrid hotel with 11 exclusive rooms, in which guests are intended to feel at home and not as if they were staying in a conventional hotel.

Instead we fitted a kitchen from bulthaup, a long dining table from Rosenthal and a well-stocked trust bar from which guests can help themselves. They then pay for what they have consumed when they check out. Couldn’t be simpler.

Let’s get together in the kitchen! In deciding to equip the entrance hall with a bulthaup kitchen instead of a conventional reception desk we were fulfilling a long-held wish, which many of our guests may well share.

Okay, there’s also a small lobby with a sofa

And this sofa from the Rosenthal furniture collection is one in which you can lean back and enjoy a conversation at your leisure.

KIDS WELCOME!

Many design hotels tend to believe that kids don’t really fit into their concept. We disagree and believe that it’s never too early for them to develop an awareness of style and a taste for good design.

When we say ‘smart’ we really mean smart

And this covers the entire hotel, starting with access which is smart and digital using an app and the smartphone. Apropos digital. Throughout Mittermeiers Alter Ego guests have access to high-end Wi-Fi with maximum bandwidth – everything free, of course.

In other ways, too, Mittermeiers Alter Ego is 100% digital. Want to quickly check your presentation for tomorrow once more? Preferably under realistic conditions on the large flatscreen TV in your room? No problem thanks to Apple TV. And it goes without saying that Netflix and the like are also available, just as at home. And there’s a personal iPad in all rooms for convenient control of all your content.

The air-conditioning, too, is not just smart because it’s electronically controlled – it’s also simple. A single knob is all that’s needed for you to set your personal feel-good temperature – the intelligent controls take care of the rest. After all, it’s not rocket science.

Smart from the start: 24/7 access via smartphone.
Not business as usual, but with full multimedia and streaming facilities in all rooms.
