The great advantage of a hotel is that it is a refuge from home life.

George Bernhard Shaw, Irish dramatist

Mittermeiers Alter Ego combines two different concepts

The quality and professionalism of a high-end hotel with the independence and casual ease of a private apartment. In other words, not either/or but the best of both worlds, because we aim to create one of the world’s best hybrid hotels – no more and no less. Without compromises or unnecessary frills. For people who are not interested in mediocrity.

Ulli and Christian Mittermeier

Ulli and Christian Mittermeier do things their own individual way: uncomplicated, uncompromising and in line with their consistently high standards. It may not always be easy, but the effort is worth it if helps to make the world a little better.
TASTE – NOT WASTE!

Apropos “Making the world a little bit better”: From February 14 to March 10, 2019, the pop-up restaurant “Blaue Sau” in Villa Mittermeier offers a daily changing menu. Made from food that we save from destruction.

The best parties always take place in the kitchen

And that’s why Mittermeiers Alter Ego has an especially attractive one: a b2 from bulthaup, which serves as both a common work space and an ideal place for a good conversation. Like the rest of the furnishings the long table comes from Rosenthal Interieur, and there’s a well-stocked trust bar, from which guests can help themselves and later pay for what they have consumed.

In contrast, we have done without a classical reception, restaurant and breakfast room.

New York, Paris, Rothenburg

Mittermeiers Alter Ego would feel very much at home in one of the world’s major cities.

But Mittermeier’s Alter Ego is not just any old hotel, and this also goes for the choice of location. Rothenburg is a place of pilgrimage for tourists from all over the world. These urban nomads now have a place where they can feel at home during their stay at the heart of the world’s largest fully preserved medieval city.

What do a soap factory and a design hotel have in common?

The villa in which Mittermeiers Alter Ego has been created was once the villa of a Rothenburg manufacturer of soaps and perfumes.

Soap, shampoo, toothpaste and similar products were produced in Rothenburg under the prestigious AULA brand for nearly 140 years – a success story which unfortunately came to an end in the 1970s.
